Nicole, could you please introduce yourself and talk a little bit about your background and how you ended up working on this project?
Nicole Nguyen: Hi everyone, thanks for having me.
My name is Nicole and I have been in the blockchain space since 2016 and my most recent job is Head of International Marketing at Tokocrypto — the largest exchange of Indonesia and the company behind TKO token — the 19th project launched on Binance launchpad.
I’m currently the CMO and Co-founder of Duelist King — really excited to be here today 🔥🔥🔥

What was the inspiration behind starting an NFT card game?
And could you tell us a little about the team and the skills they have that will make this project a success?
Nicole Nguyen: The Duelist King project kick-started in February earlier this year, the founder/CEO Chiro drafted a technical lite-paper around the fair distribution model. The founding team is a strong believer in the power of blockchain in bringing fairness and equality to game assets distribution, defragmenting the centralized power of game distributors and empowering the community to grow and scale any game.

#2 It’s close to our hearts and there are plenty of feasible ways to engage the artists as well as gamers in the game

About the team, we’ve been in the blockchain space since 2016. Our founder used to work for Cardano Labs then HexTrust serving customers like LSE, HSBC, Bank of England etc. while our advisors are high-level serial entrepreneurs coming from Harmony, Lazada, Israel Blockchain Association and one of the top KOLs AshWSB. We’ve got 20+ backers and allies supporting us now.
It has been a sweaty yet amazing ride for Duelist King and hope some of you can join in with us too.
Saigon 💎 | OIG: Amazing! One of the big issues which have come about in gaming in recent years has been the effect of loot boxes and micro-transactions within these platforms. In fact some places in Europe, there are already regulations on the types of “loot boxes” and “randomization” algorithms companies are putting inside games within an unfair manner that benefits the company. So it is very refreshing to see that Duelist Kings has taken an opposite approach and focused on a fair distribution model!
We have quite enjoyed Duelist King’s because of the items you mentioned there, especially to entry to barrier and ease of access. AND one thing the users will notice off the bat is how INCREDIBLE the artwork is! Very unique!
And you have an amazing team/backers/advisors. It really highlights the fact that it takes an entire team to build something as strong as Duelist King 🙂
So currently in the market, there are a number of different play-to-earn projects, what differentiates your project from the competitors?
Nicole Nguyen: Thanks for your kind words. Other than fair distribution, top-notch game play and game designs, we are also advocating for a different narrative than Play2Earn called Win2Earn.

Nicole Nguyen: We are investing in Win2Earn — appealing people with our design and game play so they can Enjoy — Engage — Earn instead. Also, we do offer lower entry barriers and Free2Play mode for newbies to try out the game.
A couple of ways for you to earn in our game
- Win a game to receive cards or artefacts (Win2Earn)
- Win a tournament to win stable coin and DKT
- Lend cards to other players and receive tokens from them
- Sell cards/artefacts on the marketplace
- As a token holder, you might stand a chance of joining our leaderboard club to have rewards from buying cards, holding tokens, call for and participating in community voting. The higher rank you have, the more reward you are entitled to.
Anyhow the earnings correlate to your engagement in the game — and we think this should be the sustainable way to move forward with our game and also with the ecosystem.
Saigon 💎 | OIG: Amazing! This is definitely a different model from the traditional mobile gaming space which runs on microtransactions and a Pay2Play model which allows players to get ahead. This is a fantastic use of blockchain to empower players, and give back real value to the users on the network 🙂
You mentioned the $DKT. What will the role of the DKT token play?
Nicole Nguyen: I like how you mention REAL users — this is what we are striving for with our investment in the game design and economics 😄
10,000,000 DKT (Duelist King Token) will be issued and token holders will have rights for governance voting. Token holders of DKT are able to participate in DAO governance by locking their tokens to gain voting power.
Furthermore, the tokens come with a number of utilities including lifetime discount to mystery boxes, staking to mint rare NFTs, and cash-out rewards in the game.
Also, the game comes with exciting milestones from now until next year. Firstly, Player versus Environment (PvE) launches in Q1 2021 followed by Player vs Player (PvP) and multiplay feature launch in Q2 2021. So, I believe the community has every reason to be bullish about us!

You’ve mentioned a lot about your roadmap and milestones that will be coming out. From in-game mechanics to the IDO launch in late October. In your view where do you think Duelist King’s can be in a few years?
Nicole Nguyen: That’s a great question. Actually, we’ve built the platform around a fair distribution algorithm even before Duelist King and it’s called DKDAO.

DKDAO is the initial foundation for Duelist King and other games in the ecosystem to govern in a transparent and community-driven way and that’s what we want to achieve in the long run.

Nicole Nguyen: You can buy this from our website — we are selling in batches and the next one is scheduled for October. We sell boxes at a flat price of 5USD and you can get randomized designs from a Legendary to a common card.
I think this is the most exciting part — we do offer the fun of opening lootbox yet everything is made transparent, fair and verifiable on the blockchain. Hence you as the gamer or buyer can see that you stand an equal and fair chance of winning 😄

You don’t need any $DKT to start playing the game — our game is technically Free2Play. You can try out the Free playmode or the standard version where you have to collect at least 22 cards to be able to play.
The team is currently developing the PC version for now. The mobile version will be released soon subsequently since we build on Unity Engine that allows faster optimization and adaptation between laptop and mobile.
The game requires a certain strategy so no matter who you are, either a housewife or an office worker, you can start trying out our game for free and get yourself familiarized with our game tutorials so that it can be a daily challenge for you.

We have 3 revenue streams
- Card sales projected at 37 million USD per phase
- Transaction fee applicable to exchange of cards, artefacts, weapons and other in-game items
- Platform fee applicable to other gaming studios who wish to build on DKDAO platform later
We plan to put aside 10% of the card sales profit into a pool which will be distributed as staking rewards for loyal token holders based on a mixed score of their contribution to card sales and community growth. This will facilitate growth for both project and investors.

Our approach is also more old-schooled yet I believe those who are bullish on blockchain, NFT and gaming space can put their trust on us. Since rather than token price hype, a proper blockchain project should focus on values and experiences for users. And that’s what we are striving for at @DuelistKingNFT.
